1. Just The Facts About New Jersey
New Jersey is a small state, at only around 8,729 square miles. It ranks 47th in size of the 50 states. Its 2019 population was 8.9 million people. This makes New Jersey the most densely populated state in the United States.

For the second year in a row, New Jersey tops the list of the most outbound moves of any state, with over 68% of moves heading out of state. CNBC reports that 46% of those leaving did so for job opportunities, and another 24% were retirees looking to spend their retirement elsewhere.
